Jake and Lily

The book is about how Jake goes off to play with a gang of boys. Jake and Lily are twins. Lily can't  live without Jake because they have a special connection between them.  For example if Lily was at a friend's house and randomly yelled "stuck",  it could mean that Jake could be stuck in their back yard! They call their special connection "goombla". In the end Jake and Lily both meet new best friends. Some of the parts are sad and funny. At one point in the story Jake is being tricked into being a bully and calling people names that are different, I found this sad. But it is funny when Jake and Lily are blowing out their candles on their sixth birthday cake and Lily burps. I like how the chapters flip back and forth between two people. This book won the MCBA award.

The Mark of Athena

In the book seven half bloods go on a quest to save Rome from two giants and follow the Mark of Athena. The Mark of Athena is a quest that children of Athena take to get back a giant statue of Athena that was stollen. There are three challenges to overcome. Most children of Athena fail because they hate spiders and a giant one is guarding the statue. They travel in a giant war ship. They also fight giants that are trying to take over the world! I like the book because there were so many characters.

The Son of Neptune

I think the book was good, but you may not like it because Percy has no memory. In the book Percy finds another camp. It is a Roman camp. Percy goes on a quest with two friends to defeat a giant that is rising and to get the camp's eagle back. The camp protects the eagle with their lives because it has special powers. The wolf, Laputa, took Percy's memory because she did not want Percy to remember the Greek's camp, she wanted Percy to help join the camps.

The Boston Massacre

I think the book teaches you a lot about the Boston Massacre. You can choose to be a apprentice, a British soldier or John Hancock's maid. It allows you to experience life under Britain's rule in 1770. This book helps you understand what leads up to the Revolutionary War. I like the book because you can choose what to do, but it doesn't always have the choices you want. This series of Choose Your Own Adventure books gives you a perspective of both sides of history.

Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes

The book was about a blind, orphaned boy, who was an heir to the thrown, and how he became a thief to become a King. Peter had to find the lost kingdom in the book and needed to steal a magical box to embark on his journey. Some of the parts were sad but the book was very good. The book takes place in a magical world with many oceans. The boy has a companion on his whole journey, who is a knight. He meets him in the Troublesome Lake and gets a surprise. I couldn't put it down because the adventure was quickly changing. I also really liked the book because his special ability was something other than an item you can hold, it was something that was part of his body and helped his disability.

A Wind in the Door

Meg, Calvin, Mr. Jenkins, and a dragon like creature called a charabin had to journey in to Charles Wallace's mitochondria to help Sporos (a farandolae) deepen. The problem is that Echtroi are trying to convince the farandolae  not to deepen and to kill the deepened farandolae  (or fara).

It all started one night wen Meg, Calvin, and Charles met Blageny and the charabin. The charabin shows Meg that Echtroi are un-naming planets and when they are un-named they become nothing and disappear into thin air.

It is hard to follow with many scientific words but a fun book to try to understand it.

I Survived Hurricane Katrina 2005

The main character was Barry, but Cruz joined in halfway. The book was about Barry and his family. Hurricane Katrina is heading towards New Orleans. They tried to get out of the city but Barry's little sister got sick in the car and they have to go back to their house. Hurricane Katrina hits, the family goes to the roof and holds on tight to the shingles.  Barry falls off and somehow survives. The story gives you an idea of what it is like to lose things that you love and to be rescued from a hurricane.

The Biggest Pumpkin Ever

The book is about two mice who fell in love with the same pumpkin. One night they found out they were both helping it grow. They agreed to enter it in the fair. It was the biggest pumpkin ever! This book tries to teach a lesson about believing in something and working together.

Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot by Dav Pilkey

This series is about a mouse named Ricky and his Robot. Ricky and his Robot have many adventures like The Mecha-Monkeys from Mars, The Voodoo Vultures from Venus and The Un-Pleasant Penguins from Pluto plus many more. All titles are alliterations. You don't have to read the series in order, but I would. This is one of the first series I read and I enjoy it because you learn about the planets. I also like the robot.

Ancient Rome:An Interactive History Adventure

I liked this book. It has real events that happened in Rome, but it's made so you can choose what the story is. For example, when Julius Caesar dies you get to choose if you want to join the plot or if you want to stay out. I like that there are some real events and some imaginary events. It also has a time line, a glossary and "other paths to explore"(more information about Rome).

The Serpent's Shadow

The main characters are Carter and Sadie. It took place in the present .The setting is Brooklyn but they used port holes to go many places. They are in their nome studying. Apophis is rising and the House of Life is collapsing.Carter and Sadie take Apophis's shadow and force him into Duat. I love the book! There was a lot of suspense. I really like books by Rick Riordan. I like how his books are about mythological gods based in present day .

In the book Annabeth, Percy, Tyson and Grover go on a quest into the labyrinth! They have to find Daedalus, the inventor of the maze, before Luke, the half blood who turned to the Titans Side. In the final scene the camp gets invaded, by Luke and his army! It was a great book. The next and final book to this series is

See the Yak Yak

The book is about animals and their names. One of the pages says,"See the ram ram." It has a picture of a ram raming. The book plays around with the words but it is a very fun book.

The Titans curse

The book was about theTitans. In The book the Titans try to escape. The Titan lord's right hand man escaped! The son of Poseidon and the daughter of Zeus have to go on a quest along with two hunters and their friend Grover to rescue Artemis and to save their friend Annabeth. Also in the book they find the son of Hades. It is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone!

The Lightning Thief

It was a great book. The main character is Percy Jackson. My favorite part was when Percy fought Ares at the edge of the sea. In the book Percy Jackson has to find Zeus's Master Bolt in 10 days! With the help of his friends, Annabeth and Grover, he finds the Master Bolt and returns it to Zeus. In the book you will get to meet the big three Zeus,Poseidon and Hades. So have a fun time and get reading!
